The US Open: A Momentous Major

Record-breaking rounds, legendary long games, and pulse-pounding playoffs are all par for the course at one of the most prestigious golf tournaments in the world—the United States Open Championship.

Established in 1895, the US Open is one of the four major championships in professional golf, along with the Masters, the Open Championship, and the PGA Championship. The tournament is held annually by the United States Golf Association (USGA) and is famed for its challenging course setups and tough playing conditions, making it a true test of skill and mental toughness for the world's best golfers.

Including a field of 156 players, the championship is played over four days in mid-June with 18 holes played each day. With the largest purse of any major championship on the line, the US Open guarantees fierce competition year after year.

PINEHURST GOLF COURSE         35.1957° N, -79.4736° W

Hidden among the sweeping southern woods of North Carolina, Pinehurst Golf Course holds a special place in the hearts and minds of players around the world.

Designed by renowned course architect Donald Ross, this historic course first opened its doors in 1898 with just nine holes and a distinctive course design that still sets it apart as one of the most gorgeous courses on the PGA Tour. Ross's signature style features undulating fairways, woodsy and naturalistic bunkers, and mesmerizing greens that require skill, precision, and patience to navigate.

In addition to its challenging layout, Pinehurst is also known for its rich history and tradition. The course has played host to numerous prestigious events, including the US Open, the US Women's Open, and the Ryder Cup. Golf legends such as Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Tiger Woods have all competed on the hallowed grounds of Pinehurst, adding to its storied legacy.

Why Donors Will Love It

The US Open Golf package gives donors the opportunity to support your cause while experiencing some of the best action golf has to offer.

Here are a few things that’ll make the cut!

THE PROS & THE WALK-ONS

Golf enthusiasts won’t need much of a pitch—the US Open offers donors the opportunity to see some of the best golfers in the world, up close and personal. With players like Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Rory McIlroy regularly competing for the title, seeing these players in action is a truly unforgettable experience with their unmatched skill and precision. Major championships like the US Open often come down to the wire, with players facing immense pressure to perform as the competition reaches its climax in the championship round. Donors will love watching with bated breath as the stars of today go head-to-head under the physical and mental demands of the tournament known as “golf’s sternest test.”

Additionally, one of the US Open’s most unique features is in its name—it’s open. The championship field is open to any amateur with a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 1.4 who can qualify. The US Open provides an opportunity for talented amateur golfers to compete at a professional level and showcase their skills on a big stage, creating a diverse field of competitors. This can lead to unexpected storylines, underdog victories, and inspiring performances that capture the attention and imagination of donors who know the next legends of golf could be made in front of their eyes.

CLASSIC COURSES

One of the best things about attending the US Open is the opportunity to explore some of the most beautiful courses in the country. Each year, the US Open is held at a different course, showcasing the diverse landscapes and challenges of American golf and Pinehurst is a traditionalist’s dream. The landscape of the course is known for its rolling terrain, abundant pine trees, and lush greenery. The course features narrow fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and fast greens surrounded by towering trees and native plants. The overall feel of the landscape is serene and wild, with stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

In addition to watching the pros play, attending the US Open also provides donors with the chance to test their own skills on the same courses. Many of the tournament courses offer public play opportunities, allowing attendees to experience the same challenges as the pros. Whether your donor is a seasoned golfer or just starting out, playing on a US Open course is sure to be a highlight of their trip.
